By the way, it's still a very nice tractor and I'd be proud to
own it even with the rusted muffler but it did give me pause
to wonder why someone would auction it off, obviously expecting
top dollar, without replacing the muffler.  Maybe they couldn't get 
an OEM muffler in time or something.

Very observant Charlie. I missed that completely. Did that series JD 
tractors even have the oval muffler originally?
