Ralph,  I'm pretty sure that compression release is not an
option!  If it is I doubt many folks buy it that way.
I bet it's quick out of the hole if you can hang on to it.

My brother has had a Suzuki 500 single for years. Calls it thumper. It 
has a compression release that is required to kick start that big 
engine. Sure does go.
