Automated weather station 2 miles from me reports average wind chill for the
last 10 minutes at -61F

One livestock waterer froze up this morning. Opened it up and found the
heater working but the rubber supply hose touching the side of waterer.
Moved it and it started leaking at both top and bottom. Covered everything
with an insulated blanket and used stove pipe to put the exhaust from my
diesel pickup into the cavity under the waterer. Took about 1/2 hour to thaw
it out, tightened the hose clamp at the valve to the bottom of the hose and
that stopped that leak but had to open the top of the waterer and remove get
at the top hose clamp. Tightened it to stop that leak but by then the valve
was froze again.

Put everything back together and covered it again. Changed gates around so
all three pens of cattle can get to the other waterer which only took a rap
from a hammer to knock the float free.
