[AT] Corn report

We've had plenty of rain John except for a dry spell early on that probably
hurt corn yields a good bit.
Beans were mostly late planted here and are still green and growing.
I saw some cotton bowls breaking open this morning that I didn't notice
yesterday in the same
field near my house.
Someone told me that corn was being picked 2 weeks ago near here but what I
saw Thursday was
the first I had actually seen this season.

Sounds about right, we'll probably start in 3-4 weeks. Most stuff you guys
are 2-4 weeks ahead of us. So far August has been a lot cooler than normal,
I think that is holding back the corn from turning. I'm planning on getting
the combine in the shop for a once over by the end of next week. I haven't
seen any beans starting to yellow yet but there are some gorgeous early
beans around. About 3 ft. tall and a very dark green, shouldn't take but a
little more rain to finish that crop. Double crop beans are all over the
place, I've seen them 2ft high as well as bare fields behind quite a few
farmers. We got hit with no rain for over a month during June/July. That is
definitely going to hurt the corn yields.

I saw two different farmers picking corn yesterday
here in coastal NC.
