Rich,

It's more than likely the starter or something starter related. 

If it's the starter itself, something internal is causing the starter to 
bind a little when the starter gets hot, requiring more current to turn 
over at the required speed. 

If it's something starter related, try checking the battery cables for bad 
connections, corrosion, all the usual stuff. Do this at the battery, the 
starter and the ground on the engine block. Also try unbolting the starter 
and making sure all the mounting surfaces on the engine block and the 
starter are clean. When re-bolting the starter make sure you're tightening 
all the bolts to the specified torque.
