Steve,

I have to go through the hoops to get my CDL as I am using insulin. The State has a program that I guess is blessed by the FEDs that allows me to get a CDL which is restricted to intrastate only. It's a real pain as they will only approve it for 12 months. Since it takes weeks to get through all the hoops it really turns out to be about 10 months to allow for the physical, and the time it takes to process the paper work. Every year there is some glitch in the paper work and I end up right down to the wire. I'm 67 and had hoped to keep working until I reach 72, but I am getting tired of the BS. I shouldn't have to worry about the BMI. I weigh about 135 and am 5'6". My Doctor still worries about sleep apnea. I'm glad I had a test for that a few years ago and was normal.

Gary

Be prepared for the next FED BS involving CDLs. They are tracking
doctors and looking at CDL holders who have "abnormal BMI" (in other
words anyone who is even slightly overweight for their height) They have
been issuing 6 month med cards and won't sign off until you have a sleep
apnea test done. Pass it and they may give you a 2 year, then you get
tested at the next re-up. Fail it and you either buy the machine and
they track you OR you surrender your CDL.
