David, if your B-S engine is a 5 hp, horizontal shaft this engine should
work.
Mine is an old Parmi brand, now out of business. Mine is easy because
there are only 4 bolts, a belt and a throttle cable connecting the motor to
the rest of
the tiller. The Harbor Freight 212 CC engine I used is a Chinese copy of a
Honda
engine but it is built as pretty much a direct replacement for a B&S. It
has,
depending on where you are reading, either 6.5 or 7 hp. In my case, I'm
tilling in
sandy loam so it's much easier than the NC red clay you are in. However, if
your
5 horse B&S did the job this engine will do it just fine.

Hi guys, say I have a troy built tiller also. I'm curious to learn what
size tiller do u guys have that your putting new engines onto and that so
much of the new motor is easily bolting right up to. ?...that is very

Will you tell me your tiller size?
and tell me what size motor ( HP) you are putting on your tiller?
What soil type are you using the tiller in?
Myself, I own a Pony with 5HP BS engine. Mine is all original yet. yet
last year I could tell the engine had lost some of it's power, as the tines
could bog it down and almost stall it.
I'm digging NC red clay.
