I've seen folks that claimed to do that.  I'm skeptical.
Down this way there is water pretty much everywhere so
it is hard to be wrong.   I guess if a witcher would take me
out to west Texas and hit about 80% accuracy on the dry lands
I might be convinced.

I don't mean that to disparage your wife's grandfather.  It's just
that the one's I've seen didn't impress me.

Charlie my wife's grand father showed me how to witch water and find the
depth many years ago.
But i find not all can do it.
