Mike try putting the main transmission in high gear (3rd?)
and see if you can rock the tractor back and forth by pushing or pulling
on the rear tire lugs.  It might require you to jack up one side to make it
easier.  While you are rocking it get someone to pull against the range 
selector.
I've never tried that on a MF tractor so I don't know if it will help or not 
but it can't hurt to try.

I just tried pulling up on it, no dice, it's stuck. Len, what gauge wire
would I need to use for the jumpers?
