Same in your and Al's area as mine then, they were all on tobacco farms and
in gardens, no loaders.
How about it list, lets hear a roll call of where the offset series IH
tractors with loaders were commonly found. I'm going to guess and say up
North, Mid-west was probably all H and M's.

John,
I've never seen one with a loader in my neck of the woods. I could see
the loader being beneficial in feed lot situations etc. Most all these
tractors pulled tobacco trucks and cultivate row crops here. I remember
using my dad's 140 to plow pepper and the steering sector was so worn it
took about 3/4 turn before anything would happen at the front wheels. Dad
could plow with it in 3rd gear and not have a problem. I would plow up half
the row not being used to the loose wheel. I took a lot of ribbing from him
for that one!!

Al, a couple folks have mentioned loaders on these tractors. I can only
recall seeing one with a loader around here, how about your neck of the
woods? I may have seen a couple more at antique shows but don't recall.
Wonder what section of the country were these popular?
John

I wonder, on the 140 if you could use a power steering steering wheel from
another IH tractor, since they were smaller, but basically look the same.
Everything from the Super A-1 on up is definately a little tougher to use
with that great big steering wheel....
