Flax is one wiry and tough customer and the straw is nearly 
indestructible. I can't ever say I have considered it hard on the soil 
though. I always plant RR canola on flax stubble the following year and 
it turns out great.
This year's flax is looking like it will be a heavy crop standing tall 
and thick. I didn't like driving through it but really needed to get to 
that gravel pit.
