[AT] lost--generators

I have two, an older Generac 5000w that is the perfect machine for
turning gasoline into noise. I also have a 7500w Champion that is much
quieter. I use the Champion to power the house when we lose power due to
thunderstorm, ice storm or just wind. I also have electric fences and
stock tanks that need juice, so I keep the 5000w around for that.

Ralph, I'm trying to envision what your part of Canada looks like, I
imagine it to be wide open spaces where there is nothing to hit the
power lines, and they all have nice wide right of ways cleared around
them. I'm in Michigan and I can't begin to tell you how many dead Ash
trees we have around here. DTE energy does what they can to keep them
cleared back from the lines, but the sheer number of them is mind boggling.

Since we are now on natural gas, with geothermal heat and hot water, we could run for days on backup power without it effecting our life.
