[AT] John Deere 850 hp vs an old steamer

anyone else notice that the front wheels on that Deere weren't doing any
digging? Those looked like planetary drive axles to my untrained eye... a
whole lotta wasted weight on something that's usually got set limits.
Perhaps someone disconnected the front axle to stage this little spectacle
and not break the old steam tractor? I'm just guessing that the steam
tractor would still pull it around but might have a bit more work to do if
everything was working hard.
Or maybe they did it to protect the high-strung race tractor from itself
and the heat it's gotta make internally? :)

Cool video tho.
