The equator is still where it has been for a while and the earth axis
still has a 22.5 degree tilt. The tropic of Cancer and Tropic of
Capricorn have not moved from their positions at 22.5 degrees north and
south.
This strange weather can be contributed to the melting of the ice caps
and the current state of the Arctic oscillation, the difference in air
pressure between the Arctic and and the area around the Azores. The
Arctic is warming faster than the tropics which is affecting the jet stream.
