[AT] MF 135

We've gotten the brakes changed on both sides. Changing the outer seal is
certainly not for the faint of heart! I read somewhere online someone
suggesting taking the rear axle out and carrying it to your dealer to let
them fight changing the bearing and seal. As long as you have a torch and a
hydraulic press you can do it, but the first one will take you a little
while as you figure it out. The hub wouldn't fit through my press frame so I
had to dig through the scrap pile to find some heavy tubing to pillar up
with.

Reassembling with the shims is a bit of guesswork. I found a guy with a
service manual and it read the same as the 8N Ford and Dudleys 35. Still
kind of a pain measuring the shims

Sounds like a plan anyway! Hopefully we'll have a chance to get the first
side put back together today.

John, the Manual for the 35 says -

...with the rear jacked up "Turn one of the wheels and observe the
direction of rotation of the other wheel. If the wheels turn in the same
direction, there is insufficient clearance between the ends of the axle
shafts." The manual goes on to say that the correct axle End Play is not
less that 0.002" nor greater than 0.008"

I don't know if the 35 and 135 are the same but at least we know from what
your manual says for the 8N and mine says for the 35 that the 8N and 35
appear to be the same in this regard. And, if I had to guess, I would
think the 135 is the same as the 35 and conclude that all three models are
the same. But, it would be nice if someone had a 135 manual and could
remove the guess work -
