[AT] Rusting gas tank

/ I had a /generator that had a badly rusted tank. I had installed a
tube in the fuel bowl fitting to stick up about 2 inches above the tank
bottom. I sold the generator and it ran for nearly one tank of fuel
then stopped and I had to take the generator back. I had been running
methanol in the gas to prevent carb icing. It would ice terribly about
3 in the morning during thew ice storm. I removed the tank and it had
dried out completely with that methanol in the gas. I vacuumed out the
tank with a shop vac with a 1/2 inch piece of conduit adapted to the
hose. The tank was clean as a whistle afterward. I took out the tube
in the fuel fitting and never had a problem.

Had to change the positioning of the tank to make the aggregate reach all surfaces... It was a pain. The Eastwood chemical etching did a better job. The eastwood kid did not include the muriatic acid which probably did the most cleaning.... Here's a link to the rotisserie in operation.

>> What is best treatment for rusting gas tank on 66 Mustang that is being prep-ed for use after not being driven in twenty years? Car was restored in 84. New tank is approx $200. Tank has been removed, plans are to add some sharp small rocks, shake around for some time, then empty and blow clean with air hose, then add ? treatment coating. Herb(GA)
