Cute pdf actually shows up as a printer on your computer. Select print,
then select Cute PDF as the printer.
It's no nonsense no frills but not a replacement for Adobe.

The free version loads as a printer only. Basically if you can print an
item it will convert it to pdf.
The paid version does a bunch more but OCR isn't one of them (at least
it isn't in the version I have).
I have another program ( CuneiForm ) that I use for OCR.
The largest use I have for both is to scan in FD forms and make them
into editable files with fillable areas.
I HATE having to hand write everything.
