FWIW, I got a call from the dealer that I bought my new GTX2000 from yesterday. They received a Technical Bulletin on it admonishing owners to never use jumper cables on that tractor. Apparently, there have been instances where the battery died, jumper cables somehow shorted out the electric power steering, and the electronics shorted out. Yeehaw!

The "normal" belt on the 1000 series is a common poly fractional belt.
MTD upgraded the belt on the larger ones because the belts would start
slipping and burn up from the higher HP engines. It wouldn't surprise me
if parts houses don't stock the poly belt. The kevlar is only 3-4 bucks
more and they hold up a lot better.
You're welcome on the FSM, they help out sometimes.
