Grant, it would have been a mess if that thing had come apart while it was
running.
Good thing you didn't follow my advice to pull start it and use it until
planting was finished!

We got a surprise when the tractor was split - the ring gear fell off the
flywheel in three pieces, and so did chunks of the flywheel! I eventually
located a good used one in the midwest that was acceptable in price, but we
had to switch wheel spacing on another tractor to get the job done in the
meantime. So, I expect to put the tractor back together late this week for
the next batch of potato planting. We will start seeding number three
tomorrow and there will be about 5 plantings this season....
I am learning a few things about small Farmalls, that is for sure.

Cecil, that was my plan before I thought about the cultivating bars and the
challenges they engender. So that made me think about adding the hanging
lift from the shop support beam. Any advice is appreciated though.

Fasten a couple of Legs to the front half to support it near where you
are splitting the tractor. Or fasten a long piece of channel iron under
the front frame and block it up about 2 ft out on each side of the
tractor. The rolling floor jack at the rear will allow you to pull the
rear half away from the front.
