Looking at the pictures of Don's it appears to me that the thing could be
modified to use as a hydraulic press if needed. Nice looking rig.

Hi Dick,
I too looked around and found the best value to be the ones carried by TSC
under the Huskee badge, mines a 22 ton unit. They are made by Speeco, as
opposed to the ones at Lowes, HD, Etc that are made by MTD. When I was doing
my research I came across some people having problems with ones from Lowes
sold under the Troy Bilt (MTD) name. It seems that the supports for the
hydraulic ram are welded directly to the cylinder housing and tend to fail
over time. There's no way for that to happen with the Speeco unit. I looked
for used ones as well, but found diddley squat. I just brought mine home on
Tuesday, and haven't even had a chance to fire it up yet, but people seem to
like it. Mine was $1049 and that was only because I diddled around for a few
weeks, they were $999 (doh!) Oh, and they have a 3 year warranty.

Mike, I don't have an answer for you but am curious as to what
type/brand of splitter you bought. Looking for one myself.

Thanks

Dick
