[AT] Trying to come up with a fair price for an 8n

You are probably about in the ball park with your figures.  The demand 
for these N Fords is quite cyclical and very regional. Around these 
parts they have fallen out of favor, as there seems to be enough money 
for new compact tractors for the acreage crowd. That and they do not 
possess the skills/knowledge to operate the old tractors and are scared 
of them.  The collectors have enough Fords.

I realize we are comparing two different versions of the N Ford, however 
a few years ago I bought a very original, pretty good 2N for $1950.

the same 2N for $1600 and considered myself lucky to get that.  The 9N 
and 2N Fords won't bring much in these parts anymore.  On the other 
hand, this past winter, my neighbor bought three 8N Fords with a total 
investment of a little over 3 grand.  He spent a little money on two of 
them and sold them for around $2800 apiece.  He does still have the 
third one around with no apparent buyers for it at that price.  None of 
the above mentioned tractors had any equipment sold with them.
