there is a way to make a thread chaser with a right angle grinder going parallel with the pipe.

Hey I just had a brain fart, you might consider drilling 1/2" holes through 
the side of that 2" x 6" nipple, maybe down near the "chaser" end of it. 
This could allow you to insert a hefty punch or whatever, to help work the 
nipple back and forth. This might be handier than trying to use a bulky pipe 
wrench. Just a thought. Good Luck ! Kevin
