[AT] New I-Pad For Portland - PK Archives

There are at least a half dozen lurkers on the ATIS list who own Power Kings, Alan. I didn't intend to get into the digital archiving the way I have, but one thing led to another, and all or a sudden -- it happened. We're a bit short on documentation for the early years of the company, but so far there is only one attachment that I know of for which we don't have an IPL (Illustrated Parts List) and/or installation instructions. I spent some time today looking through several editions of the Master Parts Manual trying to find an early rotary mower hitch (mid-50's) so I could add that to the digital archives, but it's not there.

Thanks, Larry. I knew you had a lot of info on Economy tractors but
I didn't know you had so much and that this project was underway.

The ATIS and Farmall lists are the only tractor related lists that I keep
up with at this time so I'm glad you decided to post your notice here.

Good for you, Alan. I had not anticipated even posting a notice on this forum about PK archives, but am rethinking that, and probably will put out some sort of message. Some of the guys and gals on the Yahoo Group site are really into getting the documentation, and have let me know they anticipate ordering four, six, or even ten copies of the custom-printed thumb drives when they become available. The drives will be about the shape and size of a luggage tag, and the outside will have images of both of the serial number decals printed on it like your tractor has on the instrument panel. One says Power King, and the other says Economy Tractor. The number will be left blank, so collectors can write in the serial number of their own tractor with a felt-tipped pen if they wish. This is an on-going project, so I will replenish the supply as necessary, and upload additional files to them as they become available.

Larry, I definitely want to get in on this. I haven't been active on the PK group
in quite a while but I still have my 1976 PK 1614.

Oh, yes. As soon as I receive the loaded thumb drives from Arizona, I will put a couple of announcements on-line about them, and I will have them available for sale. I plan on selling them for $10 each. The price includes postage. No quantity discounts. I received word that the order had been shipped, and I hoped that it would arrive yesterday, but...... It's coming via UPS Ground service, So I fully expect it will be delivered this coming Monday -- just in time for SIAM (our local show). I'll have a classified ad in LAGT Magazine (Lawn And Garden Tractor), and I'll post some photos of the drives on the Power King, Economy, Jim Dandy website.

For those on this list who don't know, I've been scanning the PK literature for six or seven years. There are currently 360 files in the collection, and all of them are in PDF format, compressed, and with OCR operational so they are completely searchable using any version of Adobe Reader (including the free versions.) The files vary in size from one page to over 650 pages long.

Hi Larry, I would like to know if it would be possible for me to get a copy of those 34,000 pages of Power King literature? I would be happy to pay for a thumb drive or whatever type of drive etc. that would work plus postage and any other fees you would like. I didn't even realize that much information existed on Power Kings! Thanks ............ Mike

I looked over the whole range of readers, Ipads, etc, and decided the Kindle Fire is the only one that let's you load a bunch of high-resolution files and view them without having to go through a lengthy translation process. So at tractor shows this summer, I'll have the entire archive of Power King literature (over 34,000 pages) with me for reference on a device that will last all day without having to be recharged.
