I read something the other day that claimed the export from the US with
the highest dollar value was gasoline. I have nor researched that claim
as of yet but regardless the US peaked at gasoline consumption in (I
think) 2006.
Regardless the crude market has changed over the decades. At one time
US consumption was so much greater than the rest of the world it was the
price mover. These days there are a number of factors.
