[AT] What's in your transmission?

While rebuilding the belt pulley attachment on one of the Super A's last week, we decided to change the transmission fluid as it was very old and looked horrible. We drained it, flushed with some diesel and thought it was ready to go back together. For the heck of it I decided to see if any grit/sludge was in the drain plug area. I pulled out 2 large pieces of metal and lots of metal shavings with a magnet. We pulled the cover top to see where the metal came from. One of the holders for the shifter forks had broken and been replaced. We knew it hadn't been anything to happen in recent memory so dad called up a guy that used to work on the farm here. Turns out that sometime in the last 20-30 years (or longer) that part broke while cultivating tobacco. Obviously all the pieces didn't get fished out of the transmission. Hard to believe anything could have been in there this long and not have managed to take out a couple teeth.
