[AT] OT, Reverse Camera

Herb... I promised I would update you.

The model I first installed incorporated the display into a snap-on
replacement mirror. Great idea, but flawed technology. Too much sun and
the display is totally washed out. When not using it as a display, the
"mirror" is tinted so dark, you really cannot call it a true mirror.

I do like the idea though. I sent back the mirror model and got a simple
3.5" display (looks just like a GPS) and will mount that down in the
instrument cluster. On the Navigators, the tach is on the left side and is
plenty wide enough to mount the display there. They also make windshield
mount displays as large as 10" wide.

Once I get hers done I'll wire mine. The hardest part, at least in the
nav's, is getting the cabling run from the license plate in the back to the
dash up front. As tempting as the wireless kits sound, most every review I
read says they are problematic and subject to interference.

So, I love the idea, I just did not like the display I picked.

hth

Dick
