[Farmall] Cultivator Colors

No, definitely not. The rims never showed any of the spangled pattern
associated with the crystallization of hot-dip. The finish of the rims was
done by the suppliers. IH specified a requirement for rust resistance but
not how it was to be done. Consequently, the appearance could vary by rim
manufacturer. As I recall, the Firestone rims did look a bit different.
Not sure how to describe it. It looks a little like it had been coated the
same as everyone else then lightly sprayed of very watered down coating of
whitewash. Anybody else remember that kind of appearance?

At the 2009 RPR, Weber's had an NOS Goodyear rim with a date code 5-47. You
can see a picture of it in the November-December 2010 Red Power Magazine on
page 10. The shadows make it look a little dark at the bottom and washed
out at the top, but you get a good idea of the color. The only one-word
description of that color is silver.

Forgot to mention that the rims were hot-dipped galvanized, not
electroplated. Dipping gives you a heavier coating than electroplating,
but costs a lot more. It's also why you get that matt grey look, not the
shiny look of electroplating.
