I have tore into and found a broken block. I have tried about ever thing, and the only thing that has been successful is a good welder.

I had heard about the blocks being prone to cracking but wasn't sure of 
exactly where - know where to look first now.  On the center main, is 
that the one that has a thrust bearing?
