Ralph, out frost line is published at 8". I haven't seen it go beyond 2" in
30 years.

Its always interesting to read about the deep ripping process required
down south. We have a free natural deep soil ripping process that
happens every year. It is called winter. The soil freezes several feet
down and then graduallly thaws in the spring . This breaks up any hard
packed areas in the fields. So there are some good features about our
cold winters.
