Paul: Polarizing the regulator makes the generator charge the correct 
direction. You make a momentary connection with a jumper wire from the 
battery terminal to the generator terminal on the regulator. The generator 
terminal maybe marked arm instead of gen.

I know this has been covered before, but I tend to clean things out now and
then.  Which terminals are flashed and why? This tractor is 12 volt neg.
