When John Deere introduced the Classic and AG green I was told by
Deere that the Classic was meant to be for older equipment, up to
about the 4440 tractors say. The AG was for everything since then.
This always seemed about right to me as the older tractors were
somewhat darker in appearance than the new tractors we had sitting out
front.

So that's what I've always gone by.
