[AT] grain drill and alfalfa

Here in California, virtually all alfalfa is planted with a Brillion seeder.
The Brillion is like two ring rollers and so the seeds are packed in the top
of the soil and have maximum contact with the soil particles, leading to
near perfect germination. Also, the rows are then diffused into wide bands
of plants and the result is that there are no gap areas at all unless the
plants die from flooding or other causes. If there is one nearby to you that
you can rent or use, that is the best way to go.

Hey Cecil that is useful information! I want to get a good
stand. The last alfalfa field I had produced good for 9 or 10
years--with no irrigation! John W.
