Yes, we have the same here. About a foot or little more in diameter and 
riveted seams. I've heard they were old water heaters but like none I have 
ever seen. Back in the days when the municipality didn't spend money like 
water, they had some handy guy with a welder fit several lengths of this 
stuff together to make a culvert. They dug up one near me last spring during 
the flooding . It had plugged with dirt and was pretty rusty. Replaced with 
a nice new shiny galvanized corrugated metal culvert.
