[Farmall] Need Expert Opinion

Putting the resistor in parallel with the coil will not reduce current to
the coil any more than turning the lights on would. From what you have
added, it is clear the NAPA guys were incorrect. When you get the new coil,
you need to wire it as I said earlier for option B.

The only reason I could think of for putting a resistor in parallel with
the coil is if the PO was trying to cut the current going to the coil in
half. That would work, but it would mean that the coil was still seeing
12V when it was part of the 6V ignition system. And it was a 12V coil.

As far as what I told the NAPA guys, I told them I was converted to 12V
with the 6V ignition system. They simply said I needed the 6V coil because
of the ignition system, not because I was 12V. I even tried to make sure
that I understood what they were saying, but they just kept saying it was
based on the 6V ignition system and I didn't need the resistor.

Guess it doesn't matter now because Charlie V determined that I have the
wrong coil.
