When you have to pay your taxes to the government and then they give that money to someone else, that is NOT charity. You can't be charitable with someone else's money. If you personally make the decision to donate to a charitable cause, that is charity. If you can direct which charities will receive your tax dollars, then it could be considered charity. I pay a considerable portion of my income to the government in taxes because it is the law. I have no choice in how they spend it. I choose to donate a considerable portion of my income, productivity, and time to various charitable organizations because I realize I have been blessed and feel it is the right thing to do. Charity is a choice, not a government program. Not trying to start a fight, just want to set the record straight.

Thank you Grant,
I believe we knew about the differences but that it became so obvious to
Magdalena when she was there. She is very sensitive and caring. We have a
totally different system as you all know we pay our taxes and then the
government uses it for charity and aid for needing all over the world. This
makes people not so willing to give more to charity from their already taxed
money.
