[AT] non-reversible auto tires? OT

I bought a Vette brand new in 1994. It had asymmetrical tires. You
could not rotate them. The rears were wider than the fronts. They were
very expensive. I am thinking about $500/tire, that was back in 1996.
I was lucky to get about 20,000 miles out of them. I was told the
higher the speed rating, the less mileage that you will get out of them.
I put Kelly Springfield tires on that were about $150 less than the
Goodyears that were on the car originally. I lost a little in the speed
rating, but I was not planning on going over 150 mph anyway, so I didn't
care about that.

Not only that, some of these and the vets have rims that are different
for front and rear. Doing a tire rotation means taking the tires off the
rims and swapping them. What a crowd pleaser!! Doug T
