Yep; that's basically  the way it works.  I'll look at the parts list on the
Ford/NH website & see what it shows.  Many thanks to EVERYONE (I know I've
forgotten to thank many of yall) for the tips & advice!

Dean the screw he is talking about goes down into the passage from the 
bottom of the fuel bowl to the throat of the carb and regulates how much 
fuel flows into the main jet.   (I think I'm saying that right)
it's been long enough since I had one apart that I can't remember exactly. 
As far as it the screw turning freely,  I think there should be a felt 
washer under the nut that compresses against the screw shaft but again.  I 
haven't looked at one up close and personal for 10 years or more.
