[AT] OT - Shocking a well

Is the sulfur smell related to an iron problem? I never had the sulfur issue
but boy did I have an extreme iron issue with my well. I installed a whole
house canister filter from home depot when I moved in because of the
problem. I was changing it about every 6 months when it became full with a
rusty iron silt. Then it was every 3 months, then 1 month, then every week,
then every day... Time for a change. I bought a green sand filtration
system. It has a tank of green sand and another tank with a solution of
Potassium Permanganate? Every other night it is set to backwash the green
sand. I can hear it sometimes if I'm up late. With check valves I piped it
to exit out of the sump pump tube.

I don't remember who I bought it from, I referenced it off of ebay. It was
similar to this unit:

I used ebay for reference and called the vendor, we had a long chat about my
issue. It was delivered in about a day. There must be a network of
warehouses that home builders use.

Regards,

Will

We have a lot of iron in our water. we have a filter like this
http://www.aquaexpert.se/sv/sv/articles/jaern-och-manganfilter.php and that
works very well. There is a filter granulate in it that you need to
check/fill twice a year, if i don't do this the water turns yellow/red and
all area in contact with the water becomes red like a fox.
