Pints is correct. The gears are splash lubed and it only takes a small
amount of fluid in the case.

Subject: [Farmall] CUB Manual Misprint???

I was working on the shifting forks on the Cub last weekend and decided it
would be a good time to drain and change the oil in the trans and rear
end. Drained everything by removing the plate on the rear end, since I
apparently don't have any drain plug anywhere (checked the manuals and
looked all over on both sides). After all was cleaned up and the plate was
back on. I pulled the fill plug and took a look at the manual to verify
the amount of oil to put in. According to the manual it 's 3.5 pints for
the trans, and 0.5 pt for the rear end. This sounded low so I grab a
different manual and it said the same thing. Is this a misprint that's
been carried through all the manuals? Should that be quarts instead of
pints?
