The list is quiet, so a short tractor story from the July 3 Messenger Post.

It seems this lad was having bad luck and good luck at the same time.
Bad luck that it happened.
Good luck that it was not more serious.

Gorham, N.Y. —

A Canandaigua teen mowing brush on his father’s farm off Route 364
escaped injury Friday afternoon when the tractor he was driving struck
a guide wire, snapping a utility pole and bringing it and the
transformer to the ground.

Ontario County sheriff’s deputies said Alexander L. Gilges, 14, of 28
Academy Place, was operating the tractor towing a bushhog mower when
it struck a guide wire attached to the pole. The pole snapped in half,
falling onto the tractor along with the attached transformer, and
missing Gilges by inches, according to deputies. He got out of the
tractor without injury.

A New York State Electric and Gas Corp. crew cut the power while the
pole was replaced. Crystal Beach firefighters also responded.
