[AT] Johnson CountyIndiana tractorshow/Denton SEOld Threseher's Reunion

Al, almost all of the farmers around here call grain sorghum "milo" I
don't know where that name comes from.
Some of the corn I've seen around here this season will never make a profit.
A lot of it won't pay the cost to run a combine over the field.
I suspect if this was an area with lots of beef cattle it would be cut for
silage but if you don't have the cows to run it through there is no need to
do that.

Reunion

Not sure on the bean insurance....but the sorghum grain is good animal feed,
we mixed it with corn to "stretch" it. Got about 5500 bu. of wheat in the
bin that daddy'll use for hog feed eventually. Hopefully if the corn crop
is crap he will have enough to run 'till 2012 crop is in--and hopefully it
won't be as bad as the last 4....

I think they routinely cut and chop sorghum (milo?) for silage in the
midwest.

Al
