When I was a kid growing up in rural Tennessee, the older men would hang out at 
the hardware store/lumber yard owned by an uncle of mine.  They would sit around 
on nail kegs playing dominoes.  The ones not playing would be sitting on nail kegs
whittling on pieces of cedar with their pocket knives.  That uncle and my aunt are
still going, both in their 90s now, married 67 years.

  Same here Cecil.  In some ways it's like years ago when as a child I 
  would go with my grandpa to the local country store.  In summer most all 
  the older men would be sitting outside the building on soda pop crates 
  discussing the weather, the days events and whatever.  In winter it was 
  inside with a rook game in progress beside the potbellied stove.  These 
  days I could be one of those older men.
