Gene,  I fit in the same mold.  Every time I finally break down and get rid 
of something, I need it or it's price sky rockets with in a month or two. 
I've just learned not to depend on it.

Nothing wrong with your practice.   My Dad practiced that all of his life.
If we did not have it, it involved six miles to town and another eleven
miles to a larger town with farm implement dealers (considerable time and
money).  We became quite creative.
