[AT] 1/2" air wrench

John,

If you are talking high end for constant daily shop use I have no
suggestions. Snap On or Ingersoll  come to mind, but I know nothing
about them.  As to the low end price wise, I am very pleased with
Campbell Hausfeld.  I have two of them in 1/2" impact.  One has been
used a lot and one very little.  The second one was on a good sale so
I bought it for a back up.  Both have the typical 1 2 3 4 settings in
both directions.  My first air impact came from Central tractor as a
free bee with a compressor I bought around 1974.  Although built
heavy, I frequently had to get out a breaker bar to loosen lug nuts ,
etc.  It did not have a lot of muscle.  Maybe it wanted more air
pressure than I could supply.  After putting up with it for 10 or 15
years, (slow learner) I bought the first Campbell and never looked
back.  Smaller, lighter, but considerably stronger.

The wrench we have now has 3 settings for tightening but only 1 for backing bolts out. What's your thoughts on how much torque is too much? Anybody got a particular wrench they recommend?
