[AT] Now NC twisters: was Mina problem

Grant
I know the frustration and loss you feel. I had the best crop of oats
evergrown on my farm last spring. It was the first time I had done it all
by myself without any help of supervision from my Dad. I used chicken
litter for fertilizer and planted with a no till drill. I had invested huge
sums of money in getting that land in decent shape to grow a decent crop..
Oats were 2 ft tall and almost starting to boot. Hail leveled the entire
crop and drove it into the mud. It made nothing. It was not even good for
pasture.. No crop insurance.. First time in my 45 years of farming I lost
a crop to hail... Now we have drought. I turned the sheep in on the wheat
this afternoon. It might make 1/2 round bales per acre. The sheep need the
green forage, they have been on dry hay since Jan 1.

Mother Nature is a nasty old bitch.
