I am sorry to have to pass along the news of the death of Cecil Monson's 
widow Lucile. Some of us who have been on the ATIS list for a while knew 
Cecil and Lucille. I was just exchanging messages with Lucile last week 
- she said she had some images of Cecil and some of his friends, taken 
at a tractor show. But she never sent the images.

Mountainville, NY

Lucille Helen Eddy Hand Monson of Mountainville and the Hamlet of 
Wallkill was born July 3, 1936 in Cornwall, a daughter of the late 
Raymond and Helen (Markert) Eddy, widow of Cecil Monson, died 
unexpectedly at her new home in the Hamlet of Wallkill on March 31, 2011.

She was broker/owner for over 40 years of Lucille Hand Real Estate in 
Mountainville and Ellenville. She was a member of the Orange, Ulster and 
Sullivan Board of Realtors, The Cornwall Historic Society, The Order of 
the Eastern Star, and a member of The Mountainville Methodist Church and 
the Mountainville Grange. She was a former member of the Mountainville 
Engine Ladies Auxiliary. Mom loved to travel in her motor home with 
family and friends. She also traveled with the Cornwall Seniors on many 
trips to the casinos. She especially enjoyed her recent trip to Ireland.

She was an avid Army Football and New York Yankees fan. She loved being 
Grammy to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by 
her loving children: Kenneth Hand and wife, Marybeth (Beezer) of 
Cornwall, Gail Vesely and her fiance, Kelly Collins of Napanoch, Martin 
Hand and wife, Mary of Wallkill, John Hand Jr. and wife, Patty of 
Highland Mills; grandchildren: Shelly DiLello and husband, Gianni, Lori 
Chapman and husband, Jeff, Marty Hand Jr. and fiance, Eliza Hart, Amy 
Maher and husband, Dennis, Kathleen Hand, Kelley Hand, Thomas Hand, 
Kelsey Hand, John Hand III and Kenny Hand; great-grandchildren: Tyler 
DiLello, Madison Chapman, Sean and Genevieve Maher. She is also survived 
by her sister, Lois DeStefano and her husband, Michael of Chester, many 
nieces and nephews, and former, husband J. Phillip Hand of 
Washingtonville. She is further survived by stepdaughter, Tina 
DeSmedt-Wells of Middletown. She also leaves behind her loving dog, Jack.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 3, from 48 p.m. at Quigley Bros. 
Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. Funeral Service will 
be 11 a.m., Monday, April 4, at the funeral home with burial to follow 
in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mountainville.
