Don't know if they will interchange but you should be able to acess both 
parts manuals at case-ih website.
You said it only does it when he turns so I assume it is a tow type mower. 
We've got  a tow type that must have a 6-7 foot long driveshaft. It doesn't 
matter what you hook it to, you can't turn short.
