I would go after the U-Joints before I considered swapping out a PTO....Or
just accept that the PTO - to Drawbar geometry is the culprit.

If the U-Joints are okay (tried on another tractor) then maybe.

I have a 400 and a 350 utility - they both chatter with the baler.  Any
U-Joint that goes beyond a certain angle will chatter.

Does anyone on the list know if a Farmall 400, and a Farmall 350 Independent

PTO will interchange? I have a friend that says his pto on his 350 Farmall 
rowcrop, is really vibrating when he is turning with his brush hog mowing. 
He said it is the pto unit on his tractor, and not the mower making the 
noise. I have a pto unit from a 400, and wondered if they would interchange?
