[AJD] Hard starting

I had another thought on this one...since you have been using starting
fluid, that pretty
well eliminates the 'bad gasoline' hypothesis - you're effectively replacing
any missing
volatiles. If you can get started on ether, an old B will likely run on some
pretty ugly
gasoline, having been designed for distillate.

My next suggestion follows off the 'magneto' thread...is it possible that
you're getting
spark, but the timing is wrong because the impulse spring isn't set up
correctly? I can't
recall whether a weak impulse spring will result in no spark, or just late
spark...maybe
somebody else who knows magnetos well can chime in here.

If the impulse was bringing on the spark too early it still might not start,
but I'd expect
nastiness like backfiring and such, and that's not what I'm hearing about.

Does the tractor run OK once you get it started? That's another clue that
the magneto
impulse might be involved...once you're up to idle speed it doesn't do
anything.
