Weld up the worn place in the lever and then file it back down---you'll get a much sharper edge than trying to use a grinder. If the quadrant is worn bad, use a Dremel tool with a cut off wheel to make the notches deeper. A triangle file should work if you don't have a Dremel. John Hall
